Crime Stats
548% Increase in Minneapolis carjackings
There were 101 Minneapolis carjackings in 2019. In 2020, there were 405. In 2021, there were 655. In 2022, Minneapolis is on track to surpass 2021 with 378 carjackings thus far...
71% Increase in homicides statewide
There were 117 Homicides statewide in 2019. In 2020, there were 185. In 2021, there were 201. What will it be in 2022... 2023... 2024 if we don't demand more from Minnesota legislators on this nonpartisan issue.
84% Increase in St. Paul carjackings
There were 55 Carjackings cases in Saint Paul in 2019. In 2020, there were 73. In 2021, there were 101. This dangerous rise will continue to increase unless something changes. Public Safety must be an issue at the forefront of policies Legislators put forth.
53% Increase in arson cases statewide
There has been a 53% increase in Arson cases. 716 in total last year. That 716 includes homes, businesses, livelihoods. As this dangerous trend continues, everyone is at risk.
Failed public safety
Governor Tim Walz enabled Defunding the Police and now he is trying to cover it up. Unfortunately, the damage is done. Violent crime is on the rise in communities across the state. Minnesotans can’t ignore the burglaries, carjackings, armed robberies and murders—because of the negligence of Governor Tim Walz and Minnesota Democrats.
SENTENCING COMMISSION
The Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines are an important factor in keeping Minnesotans safe. Governor Tim Walz wants to lessen sentences for repeat and violent offenders. Governor Tim Walz went soft on crime, emboldened criminals across the state, and now innocent victims and fearful Minnesotans are paying the price.
Minnesota Freedom fund
Governor Tim Walz’s Democrat allies like Vice President Kamala Harris support the Minnesota Freedom Fund: an organization that bails out violent, repeat criminals and releases them back on Minnesota streets. Thank Governor Walz and the Democrats for letting more violent criminals out on the street to terrorize Minnesota’s families.
Our Mission
Public Safety First is a 501(c)(4) dedicated to raising awareness about crime in Minnesota. Our great state deserves better than dysfunction and our citizens deserve more than living in fear, no matter where they are from. Our cities have seen unprecedented spikes in crime in the past two years as progressive groups pushed to “Defund the Police,” organizations bailed out career criminals, and politicians failed to uphold their duty to Minnesotans. This crime, despite what progressive legislators may tell you, is not entirely a result of inequities, lack of opportunity, or the actions of police — it is a result of policies and public sentiments that encourage criminals to act with no fear of deterrence. Minnesota should be a safe place to call home, something needs to change. By educating Minnesotans about the issues that face their communities, we are working to influence policy from the ground up and create a safer state for all of us. Our leaders must be held accountable. By unlocking the truth about what our leaders promote, the legislation they push, and the ideals they hold, we will inform Minnesotans of a better path for our state; a path toward public safety.
